Creative Feel NPC is a South African non-profit company working in the cultural and creative industries and is the institutional home for Unathi’s non-profit and public-interest work: work that uses the cultural and creative industries not only as fields of artistic activity, but as vehicles for education, empowerment, access, participation, knowledge, livelihoods and social development.
Established in 2017, Creative Feel began with publishing, cultural communication and the documentation and visibility of arts and creative practice. Its mandate has since broadened considerably. Today, the organisation is positioned to design and implement public-benefit programmes across arts, culture and heritage; education and skills development; creative livelihoods and professional development; rights and business readiness; public education and knowledge-sharing; inclusion and cultural participation; heritage documentation and inter-generational knowledge transfer; and the use of digital tools and new technologies to widen access and participation.
The emphasis is on practical public benefit. Creative Feel can work with artists, cultural workers, young people, communities and cultural organisations, while also partnering with government, educational institutions, civil-society organisations, funders and specialist bodies. Its programmes can combine training, mentorship, public education, creative practice, documentation, advocacy, accessible communication, community engagement and the development of practical resources. The organisation’s current programme development also extends into rights-based inclusion work, using creative and cultural methods to address dignity, accessibility, participation, stigma and barriers to cultural life, with specialist expertise brought in where required.
Creative Feel’s public-interest role is therefore intentionally broad. It is concerned with who gets to participate in cultural life, who has access to knowledge and opportunity, how creative and heritage knowledge is preserved and shared, how practitioners strengthen their professional position, and how cultural work can contribute to more inclusive, informed and economically sustainable communities. Its updated constitutional objects expressly connect cultural and creative-industry development with empowerment, workplace readiness, creative livelihoods, education, opportunity creation and public participation.
The organisation’s value lies in its ability to connect cultural practice with practical knowledge. Programmes can bring together heritage, public education, legal and business literacy, ethical storytelling, accessible communication, digital tools and partnerships with specialist organisations.
Creative Feel is not presented as a clinical, statutory or specialist social-service provider. Where projects touch disability, ageing, safeguarding, health or other specialist fields, the organisation’s role is cultural and public-interest: creative methodology, communication, documentation, facilitation, public awareness and programme coordination, working with appropriately qualified partners for specialist expertise.
The organisation is intended to remain flexible enough to respond to cultural-sector needs while staying anchored in a clear public-benefit mandate: more informed practitioners, wider cultural participation, stronger public understanding and better access to knowledge and opportunity.
